Rick Wakeman Information
Richard Christopher Wakeman CBE (May 18, 1949) is an English keyboardist and composer best known for his five-year spell with the progressive rock band Yes from 1971 to 2004 and his prolific solo work. AllMusic describes Wakeman as a "classically educated pianist virtuoso who plied his craft with Yes and established his brand of live spectacular as a solo act.
With The Red Planet, an instrumental album inspired by Mars, Wakeman returned to his progressive rock beginnings in 2020, including his English Rock Ensemble. Released in 2022, his next album, A Gallery of the Imagination, includes songs and instrumentals, among other types.
Wakeman and his band played two concerts at the London Palladium in February 2023, including Journey to the Centre of the Earth, The Six Wives of Henry VIII, and King Arthur performed in their entirety, together with some of the songs he did with Yes. Following the beginning of his last one-man piano tour in the US, Wakeman will tour the Journey to the Centre of the Earth and Yes performances in the UK in February 2024.
