Richie Ramone Information
Richard Reinhardt (August 11, 1957) is an American instrumentalist. He is professionally known by his stage name, Richie Ramone. He was born in Passaic, New Jersey. Although he did not play on the album itself, Reinhardt joined the Ramones in February 1983—just before the release of Subterranean Jungle—and appeared in two music videos from the album. During his first several months with the Ramones, he went against convention by going by the name Richie Beau onstage.
He made his classical composing debut with the Pasadena Pops in August 2007 with a piece titled "Suite for Drums and Orchestra" (based on motifs from West Side Story). No other punk rock drummer had ever accomplished what Richie Ramone did, being the concerto's principal soloist and co-composer.
The Ramones received a Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award in 2011. Leigh asked Richie to say a few words at the awards ceremony, and he did so, noting that this was the first time in history that all three of the Ramones' drummers were there and musing that Joey would be pleased with the Achievement Award. After signing with DC-Jam Records in 2013, Richie Ramone issued his debut solo effort, Entitled, on October 8, 2013. Billboard premiered "Criminal," the album's lead song.
