Rend Collective Information
Rend Collective is a Christian folk-rock worship band founded in 2007. The group is formerly known as Rend Collective Experiment and originated from Bangor, Northern Ireland. The band’s music is classified as folk-rock, worship, and contemporary Christian. The current lineup of the ensemble consists of Gareth Gilkeson – drums, percussion, bandleader; Ali Gilkeson – keyboards, female lead/backing vocals, auxiliary percussion; Chris Llewellyn – lead vocals, acoustic guitar, ukulele; Patrick Thompson – electric guitar, banjo, various strings, backing vocals; and Steve Mitchell – bass guitar.
Organic Family Hymnal was the first studio album by the Rend Collective that was released on September 8, 2010. It was followed by another studio album entitled Homemade Worship by Handmade People, which came out in January 2012. Campfire was the first live album by Rend Collective, released in January 2013. Some of its other notable discographies include The Art of Celebration (March 17, 2014), Campfire Christmas, Vol. 1 (November 17, 2014), As Family We Go (August 21, 2015), Campfire II: Simplicity (October 7, 2016), Sparkle. Pop. Rampage. (August 30, 2019), and A Jolly Irish Christmas (Vol. 2) (October 23, 2020).
The band also released many hit singles, including “Second Chance,” “Build Your Kingdom Here,” “You Will Never Run,” “Every Giant Will Fall,” “Counting Every Blessing,” and “Sing It from the Shackles.” In spring 2011, Rend Collective went on the And If Our God Is for Us... tour with Chris Tomlin and Christy Nockels. The group was nominated for Worship Album of the Year in 2018 and Song of the Year in 2019.
