Renaissance Information
Renaissance is an English progressive rock band. The group's current lineup consists of Geoffrey Langley, Leo Traversa, Frank Pagano, Mark Lambert, Rave Tesar, and Annie Haslam. They created their sound by merging a female lead vocal with elements of classical music, folk music, rock music, and jazz.
Despite the success of their 1969 self-titled debut album, Renaissance disbanded during the recording of 1971's Illusion. McCarty continued producing tunes for Renaissance to record for several more years after the original lineup had disbanded. During this time, the band underwent a period of variable members as new musicians were brought in to complete the record.
After several personnel changes and two commercial failures in the studio, Renaissance called it quits in 1987. At one point in the mid-1990s, the band split into two separate factions. The band got back together in 1998 to record Tuscany, released in 2001, but they split up again the following year.
In 2009, a reformed Renaissance fronted by Haslam and Dunford released their first album and has been actively recording and performing ever since. In November of 2012, Dunford passed away. Haslam later confirmed that they would keep on touring. The studio album Grandine il Vento was originally released in 2013 and re-issued as Symphony of Light the following year.
