Randolph Charles Bachman, OC OM (September 27, 1943) is a Canadian lead guitarist, musician, radio personality, and songwriter. He is from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Bachman is a founding member of classic rock band The Guess Who, along with the hard rock band Bachman–Turner Overdrive. He was also a member of Brave Belt, Union, and Ironhorse. The music genre of Bachman is described as rock. He won a singing competition at the age of three on CKY's King of the Saddle program. He started to learn the violin at the age of 5 in the Royal Toronto Conservatory system. Before taking up the guitar, Bachman was included in the list of good students at school.
The official music career of Bachman began when he co-founded Al and The Silvertones in Winnipeg along with Chad Allan (1960). The band was later named The Guess Who. Some of the albums released under this band were Wheatfield Soul (1969), Canned Wheat (1969), and American Woman (1970). Later, in 1970, Bachman departed from the band and started his solo career. A few of his solo albums include 1970 Axe, 1978 Survivor, 1998 Songbook, 2001 Every Song Tells A Story, 2004 Jazz Thing, 2007 Jazz Thing II, 2015 Heavy Blues, and many more.
Bachman also released many video discographies throughout his career, including 2001 Every Song Tells A Story, 2005 Live 8 Barrie, 2006 Jazz Thing Live in Toronto, and a few others. Brave Belt was another country-rock band co-founded by him in 1971, where Bachman played as a drummer. He later rejoined The Guess Who and performed many successful tours along with other members.
Bachman also got inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame and was awarded the Order of Manitoba, which is the highest award in the Province of Manitoba.
