R&B Music Experience Information
The R&B Music Experience concert events are among the top American entertainment events. It has featured notable performers like Keith Sweat and Telvin Campbell. In 1975, Sweat launched his musical career by joining the Harlem band Jamilah. After nearly a decade, in 1987, he released his first album as a solo artist, titled Make It Last Forever.
The R&B community quickly embraced Sweat, and the album rose to the 15th spot on the Billboard 200. Besides that, it was the number-one album in R&B and hip-hop. Sweat has since released more than twelve studio albums, many of which debuted in the top ten of the Billboard 200.
Unsurprisingly, Sweat has been recognized with several honors, given his success. Most notably, he took home the Favorite Male R&B/Soul Artist trophy at the 1997 American Music Awards. He's perhaps most widely recognized for hits like "I Want Her."
Telvin Campbell's lifelong goal was to become a successful musician. He was a gospel singer in his community church from an early age. In 1988, he finally got the courage to audition for Bobbi Humphery and Warner Bros. Both the records quickly signed him. His first album, 1991's T.E.V.I.N., quickly became a commercial success, selling enough copies to earn the coveted Platinum certification in the U.S. Like several of his subsequent releases, the album topped Billboard 200.
