R&B Groove Information
Many well-known R&B acts, such as Keith Sweat and Blackstreet, have performed at the festival. In 1975, Keith Sweat began performing professionally. He released his first album, Make It Last Forever, in 1987 after performing for a while with the Harlem band Jamilah (1987). He has now produced almost a dozen other albums. His singles "I Want Her" and "Make It Last Forever" catapulted him to stardom.
Many accolades have come his way throughout the years, including the American Music Award for Favorite Male R&B/Soul Artist in 1997. Chauncey "Black" Hannibal and Teddy "Street" Riley, two producers, created Blackstreet in 1991. Their breakout hit "No Diggity" catapulted them to stardom; it featured Dr. Dre and Queen Pen.
After its rapid ascent to the top spot, the song spent four weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100. Another Level (1996) was one of their most successful albums; it reached number three on the Billboard 200. On top of that, it was number one on album charts in over eight nations. They released over four albums during their career, including many platinum certifications. The music festival has previously featured performances by Blackstreet, Keith Sweat, Ginuwine, Dave Hollister, and Dru Hill, among other notable acts.
