Pom Pom Squad Information
Pom Pom Squad is an American indie grunge/rock band. The current lineup of the group consists of Alex Mercuri (guitar), Shelby Keller (drums), and Mia Berrin (guitar and lead vocals). After graduating high school, Mia Berrin founded Pom Pom Squad. The EP Hate It Here was published in 2017 by an early incarnation of the band, with whom she soon relocated to New York City to perform solo as Pom Pom Squad.
After some time, Berrin reunited with Mari Alé Figeman on bass and Shelby Keller on drums for a club show. At first, guitar responsibilities were shared between Ethan Sass and Alex Mercuri, but eventually, Mercuri became a regular band member. The EP Ow by Pom Pom Squad came out in September 2019. Pom Pom Squad's signing with Berlin's independent label City Slang was announced on March 2, 2021. Along with the news, the band dropped a track called "Lux." On June 25, 2021, the band released Death of a Cheerleader, their debut studio album.
Their lead singer and guitarist, Matthew Caws, sang backup on a cover of "Popular" by Nada Surf, released in December 2021. The accompanying video was a frame-for-frame remake of Nada Surf's classic clip from 1996, with Berrin assuming the roles of all the lead actors.
