Pixies Information
The Pixies is an American band. The current lineup consists of Black Francis, Joey Santiago, David Lovering, and Paz Lenchantin. The band was started in January 1986 by Santiago and Francis. Francis posted an ad for a bass player who liked the music of Peter, Paul, and Mary and Hüsker Dü two weeks later. The Pixies' debut release was the Come on Pilgrim mini-LP, which featured eight tunes from the Purple Tape.
The album's making was chronicled on the band's podcast, It's a Pixies Podcast. For the band's next studio album, Black Francis claimed in February 2022 that he has composed up to forty tracks. In March of 2022, the band's single "Human Crime" was published. The album Doggerel, with the single "There's a Moon On," was published by BMG on September 30, 2022.
The Pixies combine surf music and punk rock into their sound, focusing on dynamic volume changes. Since each Pixies member originated from a distinct musical background, the band draws inspiration from various musicians and musical styles. Francis writes and performs most of the Pixies' music.
