Pierre Lapointe Information
Pierre Lapointe (May 23, 1981) is a Canadian singer and songwriter. He was born in Alma, Quebec, and grew up in Gatineau. Lapointe started studying plastic arts in 1999 but soon changed his program and began taking theatre courses at the Cegep de Saint-Hyacinthe. He left this course as well and began focusing on songwriting. Later, he returned to complete his studies in plastic arts. Upon his return, Lapointe entered a competition named Tout nouveau, tout show. He won the “Audience Award” and “Award for Songwriter-Performer of the year” at the contest. Lapointe moved to Montreal, where he continued his art studies at the Universite du Quebec a Montreal (UQAM).
Lapointe signed his first-ever deal with Audiogram in the summer of 2003. In May 2004, he released the debut studio album, “Pierre Lapoint,” which achieved platinum status in July 2006. He was invited to perform at the Festival Pully Lavaux in Switzerland in June 2004, where he won the Jury Award. Lapointe appeared as a guest speaker on Couleurs francophones on March 22, 2005, during International Francophonie Day.
Pierre Lapointe won a total of six Felix Awards in October 2005. He was also awarded with the Grand Prix du Disque for French Song for his debut album in November 2005. His other notable studio albums include La Forêt des mal-aimes (2006), Sentiments humains (2009), Seau au piano (2011), Punkt (2013), Les Gallas (2013), Paris Tristesse (2014), La Science du Coeur (2017), Ton corps est déjà froid (2018), Pour déjouer L'ennui (2019), and Chansons hivernales (2020).
