Pelican Information
Pelican is an American post-metal band. The current lineup consists of Trevor Shelley de Brauw, Laurent Schroeder-Lebec, Bryan Herweg, and Larry Herweg. Formerly signed to Hydra Head Records, Pelican is now a Southern Lord Records family member. On June 6, 2009, Pelican released their first EP for Southern Lord, Ephemeral, and they went on tour with Wolves in the Throne Room to promote it. Released on October 27, 2009, was What We All Come to Need. The album featured guest appearances by both Aaron Turner and Greg Anderson.
A new single from Pelican's upcoming 2019 album, "Midnight and Mescaline"/"Darkness on the Stairs," is scheduled to be released on Record Store Day after the album's announcement. A few months later, in April 2019, Pelican made their sixth studio album, Nighttime Stories, official announcement, and the online streaming of the tune "Midnight and Mescaline" possible. The album was set to be released on June 7, 2019, through Southern Lord.
Founder Laurent Schroeder-Lebec would triumphantly return to Pelican's live performances in 2022 following guitarist Dallas Thomas's departure from the band. Thrill Jockey will release deluxe remasters of the band's first three albums and additional bonus tracks, as Pelican revealed in this news.
