Peach Tree Rascals is a San Jose, California-based music group. Jorge Olazaba, Joseph Barros, Tarrek Abdel-Khaliq, Issac Pech, and Dominic Pizano make up the band's current roster. The trio rose to prominence after their song "Mariposa" became popular on TikTok. The band has gained critical acclaim from Billboard, Pigeons, Planes, and MTV featured on New Music Friday.
Many of the members are second-generation children of immigrants, and the group began as a group of friends in high school. Pech transferred to Khaliq's and Pizano's high school, where he became a member of their buddy group, producing CDs and inspiring them to make music. The ensemble has been compared to Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean, the Beatles, and John Mayer and has been described as combining alternative jazz, funk, and hip hop.
The band was camping a week before the release of "Glide," trying to come up with a name when Olabaza offered "Peach Tree Village." "Rascals" should be used instead of "village," according to Pech. With the release of their debut single, "Glide," in 2018, the group began releasing music. They were signed to 10K Projects in 2020 and released the single "Deer" that year. The band relocated to Los Angeles in August 2020 and released an acoustic rendition of "Mariposa."
