Paul Mark Cauthen (1986) is an American singer and songwriter. To begin his musical career, Cauthen collaborated with David Beck as a singer and songwriter in an Americana/indie folk rock band. In 2009, Cauthen crossed paths with Beck in San Marcos, Texas. Beck's father, Bill Whitbeck, was a bass player for Robert Earl Keen for a long time. After years of performing as a partnership, Cauthen decided to take the lead in 2016 when Lightning Rod Records published his debut solo album, My Gospel.
Cauthen and the Texas Gentlemen produced Elaina Kay's 2019 album, Issues. On Record Store Day in 2020, Cauthen and Orville Peck appeared as the Unrighteous Brothers, releasing two cover versions of songs by the Righteous Brothers. "Unchained Melody" and "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" were recorded by them.
Cauthen is friends with Cody Jinks and has worked with him several times. At Echo Lab studios, Cauthen and Jinks recorded a rendition of "Black Hole Sun" by Chris Cornell, and they also covered "Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love)" by Waylon Jennings. Cauthen is well-known in the area for his collaborations with many musicians; he has toured and performed with Margo Price and the Texas Gentlemen.
