Pat Benatar Information
Patricia Mae Giraldo (January 19, 1953) is an American singer and songwriter. She is professionally known by her stage name, Pat Benatar, born in New York City. In 1983, she began incorporating ambient pop elements into her music. Her biggest international success came with the single "Love Is a Battlefield" (1983), which peaked at No. 1 in the Netherlands, No. 2 in Australia, and No. 5 on the US Hot 100. Live from Earth, the album it was taken from, became her best-selling record in Australia, Germany, and the Netherlands.
To show her support for the Women's March on January 21, 2017, she made her first non-holiday original music in over a decade when she released "Shine" in January 2017. Her collaboration with singer and producer Linda Perry continued in September of the same year when they recorded "Dancing Through the Wreckage" as the first single from the soundtrack for the documentary Served Like a Girl.
She was one of fifteen artists nominated for membership into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2020, but despite receiving the second-highest number of fan votes, she still needs to be inducted. She received another nomination in 2022. The Hall of Fame revealed Benatar would be inducted in the 2022 class on May 4, 2022. She said on July 22, 2022, that she couldn't continue singing "Hit Me with Your Best Shot" on this tour.
