Oysterhead Information
Oysterhead is one of the American rock supergroups. This group features guitarist Trey Anastasio of Phish, bassist Les Claypool of Primus, and drummer Stewart Copeland of The Police. Anastasio and Claypool provide the vocals to the group. The music style of this supergroup is said to be an alt-funk fusion’s collaborative, eclectic mix.
The basic brick for Oysterhead was placed in April 2000 when Claypool was asked to assemble a band for the performance during New Orleans Jazz Fest by Superfly Productions. This group was first intended to be just a singular live performance at the New Orleans Saenger Theatre. But it came up with an entirely original and complete creation on May 4, 2000, for the New Orleans Saenger Theatre.
The very first original album released by the Oysterhead was in 2001, titled “The Grand Pecking Order.” This album constitutes of 9 new tracks along with four older songs that were debuted in New Orleans originally. To promote this album, this super-group carried out brief sold-out tours of North America.
The song “Oz Is Ever Floating" was also performed by the Oysterhead on November 5, 2001, on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. After their 2001 tour, the trio got separated and followed their ways. Back on June 16, 2006, the supergroup got reunited for Bonnaroo Music Festival to perform a two-hour set. Oysterhead performed the famous music from The Grand Pecking Order at the Bonnaroo Music Festival.
The social media accounts for Twitter and Instagram for this band was created on October 14, 2019. The Oysterhead band announced on October 15th that they would be performing two future shows on February 14th & 15th 2020 that are to be arranged at 1st Bank Center (Broomfield, CO.).
