Origin Information
Origin, originally from Topeka, Kansas, went under Necrotomy and Thee Abomination when they formed in 1990 as a technical death metal band. Their technical prowess and aggressive sound have earned them praise from music reviewers and metalheads. Blast rhythms, various death growl voices, arpeggios and sweep picking on the bass guitar and guitar are some of the most distinctive and challenging playing methods in Origin's music.
The time signatures of their songs are frequently changing and inconsistent. The band's fourth studio album, 2008's Antithesis, was a smashing success in the US, peaking at no. 21 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers list. Paul Ryan, Mike Flores, and John Longstreth went on to record Entity, the band's fifth album, as a trio. Due to the dismissal of vocalist James Lee from the band in late 2010, Ryan and Flores took turns singing. Following this, Lee became a Minnesota death metal band Face of Oblivion member.
After signing with the company, the band recorded their debut album for the German label Nuclear Blast Records in November 2010. Origin enlisted Skinless' Jason Keyser for vocals after the release of Entity. The band went on a North American tour alongside Abysmal Dawn, Hate Eternal, and Vital Remains. After that, Origin, Psycroptic, and Leng Tch'e departed on a European tour. Along with Cattle Decapitation, Decrepit Birth, Aborted, Rings of Saturn, and Battlecross, the band also served as the headliner for the 2012 American "Occupation Domination" tour.
