Orchestra of St. Lukes Information
The Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL) is a New York City-based chamber orchestra founded in 1974. Every season, the Orchestra of St. Luke's presents more than 70 concerts, programs, and events in a wide range of musical genres, including an annual Carnegie Hall Orchestra Series, Chamber Music Series, Bach Festival, Free Community Concerts for all five boroughs, Free School Concerts for over 11,000 public school children, and an annual Composition Institute dedicated to the development of compositional talent and the creation of new chamber orchestral works.
Through its Education & Community Programs, OSL makes classical music performances and training accessible to all New Yorkers. The DiMenna Center for Classical Music is home in New York City's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood; it provides rehearsal, recording, education, and performance space.
The orchestra performs at Carnegie Hall, Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, Saint Thomas Church (Manhattan), Congregation Emanu-El of New York, and Merkin Concert Hall in New York City. The Paul Taylor Dance Company's orchestra is St. Luke's.
The orchestra owns and operates The DiMenna Center for Classical Music, located at 450 West 37th Street in Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen area (opposite the Baryshnikov Arts Center).
