Nekromantix Information
The Nekromantix is a Danish-American psychobilly band from Copenhagen, Denmark, formed in 1989. The current lineup of the group consists of Rene “Dlamuerte” Garcia (drums), Francisco Mesa (guitars and backing vocals), and Nekroman (lead vocals and bassist). Nekroman decided to start a horror-themed psychobilly band as the frontman after learning to play the double bass and sing. The band was originally called Nekromantix and consisted of Nekroman, guitarist Paolo Molinari, and drummer Jens Brygman.
The Nekromantix debuted at a huge psychobilly event in Hamburg, Germany, after six months of rehearsing and two local performances at the Stengade 30 bar in Copenhagen. Their performance landed them a deal with Tombstone Records to make their Hellbound debut album. The band began touring Europe and established a name for themselves in the European psychobilly scene, which British artists dominated at the time.
The band’s second album, Curse of the Coffin, was released in 1991 on Nervous Records, and a music video accompanied it for the title tune, which was featured on MTV’s Alternative Nation.
That year, Hellcat restored and re-released the band’s third album, Brought Back to Life, under the title Brought Back To Life Again. Martinez died in a car accident on January 11, 2009. Other notable studio albums of the band include Demons Are a Girl’s Best Friend (1996), Return of the Loving Dead (February 12, 2002), and A Symphony of Wolf Tones & Ghost Notes (October 21, 2016).
