Norma Monserrat Bustamante Laferte (2 May 1983), best known by her stage as "Mon Laferte," is a multi-talented artist from Mexico and Chile. Her wide musical approach showcases her versatility and ingenuity, covering genres such as pop, rock, cumbia, bolero, and salsa. Throughout the decade of the 2010s, she garnered great attention for her theatrical manner and her "captivating stage persona."
Her albums and songs have sold over 1.5 million digital records in Latin America, solidifying her position as the best-selling Chilean musician of the 21st century. Her songs "Tormento," "Amárrame," and "Mi buen amor" are among the most popular ones she has released.
In addition to two MTV Europe Music Awards and four Latin Grammys—more than any other Chilean artist—Laferte has also received two Grammy nominations. A rendition of the Metallica song "Nothing Else Matters" was included on the charity tribute album The Metallica Blacklist, which was released in 2021. Laferte was one of the contributors.
She triumphantly returned to the Patagual stage, where she had performed throughout her childhood, in January 2023 during her debut performance at the Olmué Huaso Festival. As she sang her best songs, the traditional Oaxacan female ensemble Mujeres del Viento Florido accompanied her throughout the event.
