Miya Folick Information
Miya Folick (1989) is an American singer and songwriter. She was born in Santa Ana, California, and is currently based in Los Angeles, California. Folick is half-Japanese and half-Ukrainian. She grew up as a Jodo Shinshu Buddhist. She learned to play the taiko drums while she was a church group member. Folick attended Foothill High School in Santa Ana, California. She was on the basketball team there and completed her graduation in 2007. According to Folick, she didn’t much enjoy playing basketball. From 2007 to 2009, she went to New York University to study acting. She transferred in 2009 and completed her graduation from the University of Southern California in 2011 from the School of Theater.
Folick learned guitar from her high school friend during a semester gap. She also initiated a band later on using Tinder. In December 2015, she released her debut EP entitled Strange Darling. It was followed by two singles such as “God Is a Woman” and “Pet Body.” In November 2017, Folick released her second EP through Terrible Records entitled, Give It To Me.
Folick released another song, “Stop Talking,” in September 2018, and a supporting music video. On October 26, 2018, she released her debut full-length album, Premonitions. She also joined Pale Waves and Sunflower Bean on European and United States tours. Folic also toured with Bishop Briggs in the fall of 2019.
