Mike Dawes Information
Mike Dawes is an English fingerstyle guitarist. He was born in Guildford, Surrey. Before taking up an electric guitar at the age of 12, Dawes played around on keyboards. The year 2008 saw his transition to the steel-string acoustic guitar. At venues and festivals across the United Kingdom from late 2008 to late 2011, Dawes played instrumental concerts solo and with a concert harp player.
This was when he shared the stage with Seth Lakeman, Tommy Emmanuel, and Newton Faulkner. As well as appearing on two AGF (Acoustic Guitar Forum) discs in 2009, he published an EP named Reflections. CandyRat Records, based in Wisconsin, signed Dawes in 2012. A technically virtuoso rendition of Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know" was published by him on June 19.
Dawes followed their debut with another Candyrat song, accompanied by a collaborative remix from guitarist Petteri Sariola of Helsinki, Finland, and Adam "Nolly" Getgood of Los Angeles, California's Periphery. FAB Projects is a Kenyan charity that funds and manages local food, aid, and construction initiatives. Ten percent of all profits from independent releases went to the organization. The What Just Happened? International tour he embarked on saw him perform in over 30 countries across five continents, including the first-ever fingerstyle guitar concert in Lebanon.
