Mega Bog Information
Erin Birgy (1988) is an American experimental musician born in Idaho. As a young girl, she maintained horses and participated in a touring rodeo where she learned the skills of calf roping, mutton busting, and barrel racing. She relocated to Spokane, Washington, and Olympia, Washington, when she was a teenager. Birgy performed under the identities Little Swamp and Midi Marsh before assuming the moniker Mega Bog in roughly 2009. Before relocating to an off-the-grid cabin in New Mexico, she and Big Thief actor James Krivchenia moved to Los Angeles in 2019.
2011 saw the release of Birgy's debut album, Okay Human. 2014 saw the release of Gone Banana. 2017 saw the release of Happy Together. James Krivchenia of Big Thief mixed and mastered the record, including Meg Duffy. The album's lyrics discuss a sexual assault event and how women and rape survivors are treated in the music industry. Through the North Carolina-based label Paradise of Bachelors, Dolphine was made available in 2019. Ursula K. Le Guin, a science fiction writer, served as an inspiration for the album.
On July 23, 2021, Life and Another was re-released on Paradise of Bachelors. Collaborations with Krivchenia, Duffy, and Andrew Dorset of Lake are included on the CD. In a Vinyl episode, Birgy played Moe Tucker from The Velvet Underground.
