Mbrascatu is an indie rock band from various European and American backgrounds to produce a distinctive signature sound. They are a musical byproduct of Portland's creative melting pot. The band has performed throughout the Pacific Northwest, winning over crowds at music venues, outdoor festivals, clubs, bars, and local radio stations. Their music combines dynamics ranging from delicate to explosive, expressive Italian lyrics, hook-laden melodies, inventive arrangements, and energetic rhythms to dance to.
Mbrascatu is the result of blending several elements, such as spaghetti Westerns, immigrant dance music from Eastern Europe, psych rock, and folk, to produce a singular sonic fusion. Together with groups like Calexico, Devotchka, and Gogol Bordello, they gave contemporary indie music a worldly touch. Andrea Algieri, a guitarist and singer-songwriter, founded Mbrascatu in Portland, Oregon, in 2010. They recorded their self-titled debut album, Mbrascatu, in 2012 and Tempo, Elementi, and Tutto Cambia in 2014, 2016, and 2021, respectively.
