Mastodon Information
Mastodon is a famous American band officially from Atlanta, Georgia. The band originally formed in 2000, and since 2001, it has included the same members. The current lineup includes bassist Troy Sanders, lead guitarist Brent Hinds, rhythm guitarist Bill Kelliher, and drummer Brann Dailor. Mastodon has released a total of eight studio albums and several additional recordings.
Leviathan, Mastodon's second studio album, based on Herman Melville's classic Moby-Dick, won "Album of the Year" in 2004 from three different publications.
From their third studio album, Blood Mountain (2006), the song "Colony of Birchmen" was nominated for a Grammy in 2007 for Best Metal Performance. The Hunter's 2011 album peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 and was a commercial success upon its release.
The song "Curl of the Burl" from The Hunter was nominated for a Grammy for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance the same year. Once More 'Round the Sun got the band's third Grammy nomination for the song "High Road" and debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200.
The single "Show Yourself" from the album Emperor of Sand reached No. 4 on the US Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart in June of that year, making it the band's most financially successful single.
