Masters of the Telecaster is an American cover band that plays the tunes of Rolling Stones, Bo Diddley, Stevie Winwood, Sam Cooke, Little Richard, and Roy Buchanan. The current lineup consists of Larry Campbell (Levon Helm Band / Bob Dylan), G.E. Smith (Rogers Water Band / SNL), and Jim Weider (The Band).
Jim Weider is regarded as a master of the traditional telecaster guitar and is known for his Rock and Blues-based distinctive sound. He is one of a few performers who have received the Fender Stratocaster endorsement. Over the past three decades, he has gained the utmost respect from musicians and music enthusiasts throughout the globe. Jim gained widespread praise during his lengthy time (1985–2000) as lead guitarist for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honorees The Band (following Robbie Robertson), having been born and reared in the renowned artist's community of Woodstock, New York.
For ten years, G.E. Smith served as Saturday Night Live's bandleader and music director (SNL). He spent four years on the road with Bob Dylan at this time. He also assisted Mike Myers in writing a song for Aerosmith to perform on Saturday Night Live.
Larry Campbell, a producer and multi-instrumentalist who has won three Grammy Awards was reared in New York City and served as the Levon Helm Band's music director for eight years. The Americana Music Association gave Larry a Lifetime Achievement Award for an instrumentalist in 2013 and named him Instrumentalist of the Year. Larry sings and plays the mandolin, guitar, pedal steel, fiddle, and string instruments.
