Mac McAnally Information
Lyman Corbitt McAnally Jr. (July 15, 1957) is an American record producer, session musician, singer, and songwriter. He is professionally known as Mac McAnally. He was born in Red Bay, Alabama. As a child, he began singing and playing piano at the Belmont First Baptist Church located in Belmont, Mississippi. McAnally composed his first song at the age of fifteen. To become a session musician, he later moved to Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
McAnally began to perform his original material and got great encouragement from other producers. Eventually, in 1977, Ariola Records signed a record deal with him. A single from his debut self-titled album entitled “It’s a Crazy World” reached number 37 on the Billboard Hot 100. The second album that McAnally released was named “No Problem Here,” which was officially issued in 1978. In 1980, he released his third studio album “Cuttin’ Corners” under the label RCA Records. McAnally has also worked as a songwriter for Jimmy Buffett.
Mac then signed with Geffen Records and released his next two albums, “Nothin’ but the Truth” and “Finish Lines.” A single from the album Nothin’ but the Truth entitled “Minimum Love” reached number 41 on the Billboard Hot 100. He eventually signed to Warner Bros. Records in 1990, and that same year released his album “Simple Life.”
Mac consistently won the Country Music Association Awards for Musician of the Year Award in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2018. He has also been nominated for the 52nd Grammy Awards for “Best Country Collaboration with Vocals – “Down the Road.” Some of his other beautiful studio albums include Live and Learn, Word of Mouth, Semi-True Stories, Live: In Muscle Shoals, along with several others.
