LTJ Bukem Information
Daniel Williamson (September 20, 1967) is a British DJ, producer, and drum and bass musician. He was born in Watford, England. Bukem started as a classically educated pianist, but he also played in a jazz funk band as a teenager. After deciding in the late 1980s to pursue a career as a disc jockey, he quickly rose to prominence in the early 1990s rave scene. His stage moniker was taken from his childhood nickname, "Book 'em," inspired by the catchphrase "Book 'em Danno" from the TV show Hawaii Five-O, in which the main character, Steve McGarrett, would use the phrase whenever a suspect was apprehended.
Drum and bass albums, including "Logical Progression" (1991), "Demon's Theme" (1992), "Atlantis," and "Music" were produced by him (1993). His 1995 single "Horizons," which sampled the main melody from Lemon Sol's "Sunflash," was his most successful to date. Later, his work as the proprietor of the London club night Speed and the record label he founded, Good Looking Records, propelled him to more prominence than in his earlier days as a producer.
A subgenre of drum and bass heavily influenced by jazz and ambient music was popularized via a compilation series titled Logical Progression. He and MC Conrad appeared on an Essential Mix on July 16, 1995. In 1997, he provided a new take on the James Bond theme for David Arnold's concept album of James Bond music, Shaken, and Stirred: The David Arnold James Bond Project. Journey Inwards, a double-disc set published in 2000, was his first foray into solo work.
