Lotus Information
Lotus is an instrumental electronic jam band that was formed in 1999. The band originated from Indiana but now based in Philadelphia and Denver. Luke Miller formed Lotus initially in 1998 at Goshen College. The band’s current lineup consists of Chuck Morris (percussion), Luke Miller (keyboards/guitar), Mike Greenfield (drums), Jesse Miller (sampler and bass), and Mike Rempel. The band is famously known for dealing with multiple genres, such as Livetronical, Electronic, and Jam Band.
Lotus released its first album entitled “Vibes,” which was a compilation album of live performances, all from their 2001 tour. The album was released in 2002 and helped the band get a record deal signed with Harmonized Records. Between 2003 and 2006, the band released one live album and two studio albums. Lotus released its second album on the label Harmonized Records in 2003 entitled “Germination.”
Lotus’ other album entitled “Nomad” reached the top of the Home Grown Music Network charts. It was also the HGMN Best Seller by the end of the same year in which the album was released; 2004. Not only this, but Nomad was also nominated during a Jammy award for “New Groove of the Year''. The band has currently signed a record deal with SCI Fidelity records.
Lotus has released several notable albums since they are in the music industry. Some significant records of the band are The Strength of Weak Ties (2006), Escaping Sargasso Sea (Live) (2007), Copy/Paste/Repeat (2007), Hammerstrike (2008), Oil on Glass/Feather on Wood EPs (2009), Lotus (2011), Build (2013), Monks (2013), Gilded Age (2014), Eat the Light (2016), and Frames Per Second (2018).
