LiV Warfield Information
Liv Warfield is an American R&B singer and songwriter. She was born in Peoria, Illinois. The first time she sang in front of an audience, she did so at a karaoke bar, but she was so apprehensive that she turned her back on the crowd. After a while, she started dressing up in wigs and outfits and would attend shows multiple times per day. Warfield published her debut album, a collection of powerful ballads titled Embrace Me, independently in 2006. She held concerts and CD sales at a community fair.
In 2009, Warfield's career took off after Prince saw a video of her singing "Gimme Shelter" by the Rolling Stones and was so impressed that he invited her to audition for his New Power Generation. Warfield's 2015 rendition of "Why Do You Lie?" on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon caught the attention of Heart's Nancy Wilson, who ultimately decided to have Warfield serve as the show's opening act at the Hollywood Bowl.
Warfield was highlighted as a Soul You Oughta Know artist on VH1 Soul at the beginning of 2014. In 2014, Warfield was nominated for a Soul Train Music Award for Best New Artist and took home the Best Contemporary Jazz Performance trophy for his track "Stay" from The Unexpected.
