Lillie Mae, given the birth name Lillie Mae Rische (June 26, 1991) is an American country and Americana singer, fiddle and guitar player, and songwriter. She is from Nashville, Tennessee. Her music is defined as a country, Americana, and bluegrass. Lillie Mae Rische began performing and playing live at the age of three. At the age of four, she started playing guitar and at the age of seven, playing the fiddle. Lillie, along with her family, toured as a family band for several years.
Mae began her career by doing session work for Third Man Records. This led her to play fiddle on the 2012 and 2014 tours of Jack White. Lillie Mae appeared in several spots in 2013, on the filmed concert Another Day, Another Time: Celebrating the Music of Inside Llewyn Davis. Not only did she sing but also played violin on "Did You Hear John Hurt?" and "We're Going to Be Friends" right beside Jack White. She has also appeared in all three solo records as well as on The Raconteurs' 2019 album Help Us Stranger by Jack White.
"Nobody's" was the first solo song by Mae, which was released in 2014. The following year, she released Rain On The Piano. Mae performed in the multi-award-winning documentary The American Epic Sessions in 2017. Other Girls was another studio album by her, which was released on August 16, 2019. She has performed as a solo artist on both The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Conan. She still plays in the family band, The Risches, along with her siblings.
