Lee Dewyze Information
Leon James "Lee" DeWyze Jr. (April 2, 1986) is an American singer-songwriter born in Mount Prospect, Illinois. He plays pop, rock, alternative rock, pop-rock, indie rock, and folk-rock. Some of the notable musical influences of DeWyze are Eric Clapton, Ben Harper, Cat Stevens, and Simon & Garfunkel. He went to St. James Catholic Elementary School in Arlington Heights, Illinois, and then Prospect High School in Mount Prospect, Illinois. DeWyze never graduated from either high school though he earned his GED.
Louis Svitek discovered him at an early age and signed him to WuLi Records, and two of them founded the "Lee DeWyze Band" along with McGuire and Jeff Henderson. So I'm Told (2007), and Slumberland (2010) were the two albums recorded by DeWyze and produced by Ryan McGuire. Soon the band garnered major local success and got featured on a local television sports program, The Chicago Huddle.
DeWyze worked as a paint salesman after expulsion from high school. After doing a few odd jobs, he auditioned for American Idol. After winning American Idol, DeWyze became the headliner of the 2010 American Idols LIVE! tour. The songs he performed at the tour are "Rocket Man," "Treat Her Like a Lady," "Beautiful Day," Hallelujah," and "Use Somebody." DeWyze released his debut album entitled Live It Up on November 16, 2010. Some of his other notable albums are What Once Was 2012, Oil & Water 2016, and Paranoia 2018. He won the 2010 Teen Choice Award 2010 for Male Reality/Variety Star.
