LCD Soundsystem is an American rock band from Brooklyn, New York. LCD Soundsystem broke out in 2005 when they released their self-titled debut album. The big song from that album was “Daft Punk Is Playing at My House,” which became a hit on both dance floors and rock radio. The group is led by James Murphy, who started the project in New York City. Their sound mixes electronic beats with punk energy and smart, funny lyrics. It’s dance music with a brain full of emotion, rhythm, and cool retro vibes. Their music quickly found a strong fan base of people who liked indie rock and electronic music.
After their first album, they kept getting bigger. In 2007, the band released Sound of Silver with songs like “Someone Great” and “All My Friends.” That album got a lot of praise and helped them grow even more. Then came "This Is Happening" in 2010, with hits like “I Can Change.” The band played sold-out shows and became known for amazing live performances. They briefly broke up in 2011 and played a farewell show at Madison Square Garden. But in 2016, they got back together. In 2017, they released American Dream, which went to number one on the charts.
In 2025, LCD Soundsystem will play a new set of shows during their spring and summer residency at Brooklyn Steel in New York. The run includes multiple nights in May and June, with each show offering a slightly different setlist. Murphy and the band are performing fan favorites along with deeper cuts. These concerts are high-energy, full-band shows with lights, big beats, and crowds dancing all night.
