Kurt Thomas Travis (January 16, 1984) is an American songwriter, musician, and singer from Sacramento, California, although born in Scottsdale, Arizona. He began his musical career in 2001, and currently, Travis is part of the American post-hardcore bands, Push Over and Royal Coda. He is also known as the former lead vocalist for the rock bands; A Lot Like Birds and Dance Gavin Dance. In 2006, he formed a folk group entitled “There & Back.” Travis also works as a solo artist and released two extended plays, two full-length studio albums, and one split extended play.
Travis has worked with several record labels throughout his career, including Rise Records, Doghouse, Equal Vision Records, Blue Swan Records, Esque Records, and Tragic Hero Records. In 2012, Kurt Travis began his solo career while he was playing in A Lot Like Birds. On May 14, 2013, he released his studio album for the first time as a solo artist. The album entitled “Everything Is Beautiful” was released on Blue Swan Records. The first single of the album was released on April 22, 2014, entitled “Brain Lord.” He also embarked on a headlining tour to support this album with So Much Light and Hotel Books.
As a solo artist, Kurt Travis has released a few notable studio albums such as “What Happen” (EP) (2012), “Kurt Travis” (EP) (2013), “Kurt Travis/Paul Travis Split” (EP) (2016), and “There’s A Place I Want To Take You” (2019).
