Kim Gordon Information
Kim Gordon (April 28, 1953) is an American songwriter, singer, vocalist, bassist, guitarist, and musician. She was born in Rochester, New York. When she was only five, her family moved to Los Angeles, where she attended University Elementary School. After completing high school, she went to Santa Monica College for her further education. In 1977, Gordon completed her education till graduation with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She later went to the Otis Art Institute.
Gordon moved to New York City in 1980 to pursue her career in Arts. She did jobs related to her field. She joined her first band CKM in 1981. Gordon possessed a variety of contralto vocal range. Gordon has remained a popular culture icon, and she never exposed much about her personality, which was noted by several journalists. Her music career was influenced by some notable artists such as The Raincoats, Siouxsie Sioux, Patti Smith, and The Slits. These were the artists whom she was influenced later on in her careers, such as Tina Turner, Janis Joplin, the Runaways, and Billie Holiday.
Kim Gordon released her solo debut album in 2019 entitled “No Home Record,” which was produced by Justin Raisen. She has appeared in several films including 1991: The Year Punk Broke (1992), Gossip Girl (2009), The Whole World is Watching: Weatherman ’69 (1989), Gilmore Girls (2006), Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot (2018), Une Danse Des Bouffons (2013), and a few others. Kim Gordon was also honored at The Kitchen’s Spring Gala on May 21, 2015.
