Jupiter Coyote is an American rock band that was founded in 1990. The group traces its roots to Brevard, N.C., where childhood friends John Felty (vocals, guitars) and Matthew Mayes (vocals, guitars) planned to pursue a career in music in 1988. The current lineup of JC consists of Matthew B. Mayes, guitar, banjo, vocals; John Felty, guitar, slide, vocals; Sanders Brightwell, bass; Steve Trismen, fiddle, vocals; Noel Felty, drums, vocals; John Meyer- Guitar, G Strings, Vocals, slide; and Gene Bass- Drums, Percussion.
Jupiter Coyote has shared the stage with Widespread Panic, String Cheese, The Allman Brothers Band, Dave Matthews, The Radiators and Kansas, and a few more. The band members have also played many large festivals coast to coast from Charlotte’s Center City Fest, Atlanta’s Mid-Town, High Sierra Music Fest in California, Birmingham’s City Stages, The Magnolia Fest in Live Oak, Fla, and Asheville’s Bele Chere.
Jupiter Coyote is known as a band that is prolific in its writing, harmonious in its nature, and skilled in its musicianship. The entire business side of the group is handled by themselves in-house and on their own record label, distributed internationally through Red Eye Worldwide. They have played over five thousand shows in its 29-year career.
