July Talk Information
July Talk is a Canadian rock band that started in 2012 based in Toronto, Ontario. The group’s current lineup consists of Danny Miles, Josh Warburton, Ian Docherty, Leah Fay, and Peter Dreimanis. On October 16, 2012, Sleepless Records released July Talk’s self-titled first album, followed by Touch on September 9, 2016. In 2013, Universal Music Canada published an expanded edition of the album. July Talk was nominated for a Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year in 2015.
July Talk has toured Canada, the United States, Europe, and Australia since releasing their debut album, and have performed at many festivals, including the WayHome Music and Arts Festival near Toronto, Ontario; Isle of Wight Festival in the United Kingdom; Austin City Limits Music Festival in Austin, Texas; Voodoo Music + Arts Experience in New Orleans, Los Angeles; and Osheaga in Montreal, Quebec.
Sleepless Records in Canada, Island Records in the United States, and Universal Music Group/Vertigo Records in Europe released July Talk’s second album, Touch, on September 9, 2016. Weezer, Matthew Good, Tegan Sam Roberts, The Besnard Lakes, Billy Talent, Matt Mays, Arkells, and Sara have all toured with the band.
On July 10, 2020, Sleepless Records published July Talk’s third full-length album, Pray for It. At the 2021 Juno Awards, the album received the Alternative Album of the Year award, and Cosette Schulz’s video for “Governess Shadow” was nominated for the Prism Prize. Some notable singles of the band include “Headsick,” “Summer Dress,” “Governess Shadow,” and “The News.”
