Jr. Gone Wild Information
Jr. Gone Wild is a Canadian country-punk rock band. The group's beginnings date back to 1982 in Edmonton. The initial members were Mike McDonald, Tom Wolfe, Adele Wolfe, and Bill (Will) Pontez. They had a short but successful run in Calgary, performing at venues like Calgarian and National Hotel before calling it quits. After fronting Joey Did and the Necrophiliacs, who became the Malibu Kens (McDonald, Dobek, Scott Alloy, and Dennis Lenarduzzi), McDonald relocated the band and its name to Edmonton.
After Mike McDonald and David Lawson left, Dave "Dove" Brown and Ed Dobek joined the band. In 1986, they released their debut album on the BYO label, Less Art More Pop. In 1988, both Dobek and Lawson quit the group. McDonald, Brown, Steve Loree, and Paul Paetz remained in the band. The band went on a few tours and had a few members come and go. In 1994, the band took home the "Best Rock Band" award from the Alberta Recording Industry.
Before releasing Simple Little Wish in early 1995, they recorded numerous albums. Later that year, the band disbanded. Several of their members also played in Jerry Jerry and the Sons of Rhythm Orchestra, another band from Edmonton and Montreal—a CBC Radio interview from the 1980s claims that k.d. lang was a member of both groups.
