Jon and Roy Information
Jon and Roy is a Canadian folk-rock and reggae band. The current lineup of the group consists of Jon Middleton, Louis Sadava, and Roy Vizer. Jon Middleton, a singer-songwriter and guitarist, and Roy Vizer, a percussionist, met at the University of Victoria. Jon and Roy were created in 2003, and they began performing in Victoria and Vancouver. In 2004, they added multi-instrumentalist Dougal Bain Mclean, and in 2005, they recorded Sittin' Back with recording engineer and producer Stephen Franke.
Jon and Roy took a break from touring in Australia from 2006 to 2007, during which Middleton released his solo album After A Trip and McLean and Vizer relocated to Vancouver. In 2007, Jon and Roy regrouped and recorded the album Another Noon at Blue Heron Studios with Stephen Franke. The album's title tune was featured in a Volkswagen TV commercial that aired for nine months across the United States, providing the band a significant amount of exposure in that country. The album's success generated the YouTube hit "Little Bit of Love."
Homes was published in April 2010 by Jon and Roy. In addition to a headlining performance on Canada Day, Homes garnered them more airtime and publicity, and placement in a six-month Scotiabank marketing campaign. Some critics thought the band's fourth album, Let It Go, was noteworthy. By My Side, their fifth album was written during jam sessions at Roy Vizer's residence in 2014.
