John Waite Information
John Charles Waite (4 July 1952) is an English musician from Lancaster. His music is defined as pop-rock, hard rock, power pop, and country. Waite was educated at Lancaster Royal Grammar School and later at Lancaster Art College (The Storey Institute). He first made his musical appearance as the lead singer and bassist for The Babys, which is a British rock band that had moderate chart success at the time.
Waite launched his solo career in 1982 by releasing his debut album entitled Ignition. The album produced the hit single named "Change," followed by "Going to the Top," which was published in the same year. His next album was No Brakes, which resulted in international success. The single was a Top 10 Billboard album in the US due to smash hit "Missing You." The single hit number 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Some of his other notable studio albums are Mask of Smiles, Rover's Return, Temple Bar, When You Were Mine, Figure in a Landscape, The Hard Way, Downtown: Journey of a Heart, and Rough & Tumble.
Three of his live albums include Live & Rare Tracks 2001, In Real-Time 2010, and Live - All Access 2013. Waite also released four compilation albums, The Essential John Waite, Complete, Best, and Wooden Heart – Acoustic Anthology, Volume 2. Wooden Heart – Acoustic, Volume 1 is the only EP by Waite. "Deal for Life," "How Did I Get By Without You?" "New York City Girl" and "If You Ever Get Lonely."
