Joe Grushecky is a rock musician, guitarist, from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is known in the United States for his work with the Iron City Houserockers in the late 1970s and early 1980s. His music is described as rock and heartland rock. Joe Grushecky, a relative of Isabel, started the Brick Alley Band in 1976. The first album by the band was Love's So Tough, released in 1979. It was followed by Having a Good Time but Get out Alive! (released in 1980)Blood on the Bricks in (1981), and Cracking Under Pressure (1983). The band broke up shortly after that.
Joe Grushecky returned home to Pittsburgh, where he retook his teaching job after this breakup and started to sharpen his songwriting. "Good-Bye Steeltown" was the first single by him, and he fully re-emerged with his new act, Joe Grushecky, and The Houserockers, in 1989. Rock & Real was the first new album since the Iron City Houserockers days by Joe Grushecky, released in 1989. Seven more albums followed this; 1991: Swimming With the Sharks, 1994: End of the Century, 1995: American Babylon, 1998: Coming Home, 2004: True Companion, and a few more.
Some of his hit singles include "Radio Ears"/"Goodbye Steeltown" and "Stand Up"/"Victory!". Singles with Iron City Houserockers are 1979: "Hideaway," 1980: "Hypnotized," 1980: "Junior's Bar," 1980: "We're Not Dead Yet," and 1981: "Friday Night."
