Avenged Sevenfold is an American heavy metal band. The current lineup includes M. Shadows, Zacky Vengeance, Synyster Gates, Johnny Christ, and Brooks Wackerman. The band's first album, Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, established their metalcore style, which was carried over into their second album, Waking the Fallen. The band's sound shifted toward classic heavy metal on their third album and first release on a major label, City of Evil.
Synyster Gates announced the beginning of recording for their eighth studio album in an interview with Loudwire in September 2018. According to Zacky Vengeance, the band is "really focused" on the new material for their upcoming album. Thus, he announced in March 2019 that they would take the rest of the year off tour to work on it. Released in January 2020, "Set Me Free" was a previously unheard track from Avenged Sevenfold's Hail to the King sessions.
A remastered version of Live at the LBC & Diamonds in the Rough was announced on March 6, 2023. Diamonds in the Rough was also made available on limited clear vinyl. After several days of teasing videos, the band finally dropped their debut single, "Nobody," and its accompanying music video on March 14, 2023. They also shared the cover art and track listing for their next eighth studio album, Life Is Just a Dream..., which was scheduled for release on June 2, 2023.
