Jeff Scott Soto Information
Jeff Scott Soto (November 4, 1955) is an American singer. He was born in Brooklyn, New York. Soto began his recording career as a lead vocalist for the band Kanan in 1982, following stints as a singer for a number of local cover bands. Soto sang on the first two albums by guitar prodigy Yngwie Malmsteen, 1984's Rising Force and 1985's Marching Out.
Panther, Axel Rudi Pell, Eyes, Talisman, Takara, Humanimal, Human Clay, Kryst The Conqueror, Redlist, The Boogie Knights, Soul SirkUS, and Octavision are just a few of the acts that Soto has played with. Soto's extensive session work includes singing backup for a wide variety of acts, including Lita Ford, Steelheart, Glass Tiger, House of Lords, Stryper, and Saigon Kick.
On the soundtrack to the film Rock Star, Soto provided vocals for the fictional band Steel Dragon, which featured Zakk Wylde, Jeff Pilson, and Jason Bonham; he also sang background vocals for the band Steelheart's second studio record, which also featured Michael Matijevic.
Soto and Brian May played "Dragon Attack" at Reading, UK's annual OIQFC "Freddie Mercury Birthday Party" in 2000. Soto is now a member of the Spike All Stars, the ensemble led by former Queen guitarist Spike Edney. The following year, Soto joined Brian May and Roger Taylor for the Official International Queen Fan Club's "Hollywood Walk of Fame" celebration.
