Janet Gardner Information
Janet Gardner (March 21, 1962) is an American rock singer. She was born in Juneau, Alaska. Gardner joined the all-female hard rock band Vixen as the main singer and rhythm guitarist. In 1983, when the band comprised five members, she became one of them. After appearing as Diaper Rash in the film Hardbodies in 1984, the band relocated to LA to pursue a career in pop rock.
At the time, Gardner only sang lead. After some lineup shifts, the core members of Vixen were Gardner, Jan Kuehnemund, Roxy Petrucci, and Share Ross. Before releasing their self-titled debut album in September 1988, Vixen signed with EMI's Manhattan Records and recorded it. As a rule, Gardner avoided the limelight, although, in 2010 and 2011, he made a few performances singing with the band Scrap Metal.
Jan Kuehnemund was approached by Share Ross, Roxy Petrucci, and Gardner in 2012 about reforming the original Vixen, but Kuehnemund politely declined, saying she was content with her current band. Gardner, Ross, and Petrucci, joined by Gina Stile, soon announced they would be forming their band. In 2017, Gardner and her husband, Justin James, released a self-titled solo album on Pavement Entertainment.
