Nahum Thorton Grymes (November 29, 1977) is an American actor, songwriter, rapper, and actor. He is professionally known as J. Holiday and was born in Washington, D.C. Holiday received major prominence in 2007 with his breakthrough hit “Bed” that peaked at number five on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. He released his debut album, Back of My Lac, in October 2007. The album reached number five on the U.S. Billboard 200 and hit number 32 in the United Kingdom. The album has sold more than 700,000 copies worldwide so far.
J. Holiday released his second album, Round 2, on March 10, 2009, which reached number 4 on the Billboard 200. However, it only contained one single entitled “It’s Yours.” The single also featured production from The Co-Stars and Jasper Cameron. The album sold 55,000 units in its first week of release. J. Holiday left Capitol Records and signed to Def Jam when working on his third album. In 2011, he released his mixtape, M.I.A.: The Lost Pages. It was released in promotion of the album.
On November 11, 2013, J. Holiday scheduled to release his next studio album, Guilty Conscience. The album was eventually released on January 28, 2014, through Holiday Music Group. J. Holiday has appeared in a few films so far in his career, including The Arsenio Hall Show (2014), School of Hard Knocks (2013), Real Housewives of Atlanta (2009), and Lincoln Heights (2008). He was nominated for Grammy Awards in 2009 for the Best Contemporary R&B Album.
