The Insider is an American tribute band known to present a premier Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers experience. The band comprises six veteran musicians, Max Lockwood on lead guitar and vocals, Eric O'Daly multi-instrumentalist and vocals, Phil Barry on lead guitar and vocals, Mike Lynch on keyboards, Daine Hammerle on drums and vocals, and Joe VanAcker on bass.
Together the group members have decades of combined stage and touring experience. The Inside's founded by frontman Max Lockwood, grew up listening to Tom Petty’s Greatest Hits. Tom Petty passed in October of 2017, but nothing has changed for Lockwood as he organized the group by pulling together some of his favorite musicians for a benefit concert.
The Insiders played a sold-out show that raised thousands for a local domestic violence shelter, which helped them choose to continue with the group. The group members state that they try to honor Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and what the legendary band has done for rock and roll each night. The band has massive demand, selling out shows everywhere during their first year together.
