Hinds Information
Hinds is a Spanish indie rock band based in Madrid. The band was formed in 2011. Hinds consists of Ana Perrote (guitar, vocals), Amber Grimbergen (drums), Ade Martin (backing vocals, bass), and Carlotta Cosials (guitar, vocals). The band’s original name was “Deers,” but they changed it to “Hinds” by the end of 2014 when they received a threat against legal action from another similarly named band “The Dears.”
Hinds was a duo until 2014; later, the duo took a year and a half break and reformed in 2013. During the break, the band did not work on any project. In 2014, still as a duo, Hinds recorded a few tracks such as “Trippy Gum” and “Bamboo.” Both of the songs were released in Bandcamp as “Demo.” Nearly all the major music magazines praised the singles. In September 2014, Paul Lester of The Guardian chose Hinds as a “new band of the week.” They also received appreciations from significant musicians, including The Pastels, Bobby Gillespie, and Patrick Carney.
Hinds became a four-piece after they released “Demo.” They won the “Make Noise Malasan” festival contest in May 2014. On this achievement, they were rewarded for recording their second single entitled “Barn” in Converse Rubber Tracks Studio in Berlin. Later in June 2014, the band performed in London for the first time. Hinds started their world tour in 2015. They played in Australia and Thailand in February and the United States in March.
Hind started their debut album’s recording on April 13, 2015. The debut album “Leave Me Alone” was finally released on January 8, 2016, under the label, Lucky Number. The band released two more albums so far, including I don’t Run (2018) and The Prettiest Curse (2020).
