Greg Howe Information
Gregory Howe (December 8, 1963) is an American composer and guitarist. He has been an active musician for more than three decades, born in New York City, New York. Greg Howe played the club circuit all around the New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania areas after leaving high school. He began his solo career officially in 1987 after he sent a demo tape to Shrapnel Records, where he was immediately signed by the founder Mike Varney.
In 1988, Greg Howe released his self-titled debut album. It was during the popular shred era, and the album went on to become his highest-selling album and was ranked at the tenth number in the all-time top ten lists of shred albums. He also formed a hard rock group that was named “Howe II.” The group was formed with Albert and inspired by Van Halen. Howe released his second studio album entitled “Introspection” in 1993.
Greg Howe eventually switched recording labels to Tone Center Records and, in 2015, was ranked tenth in the “Top 10 Pick Squealers of All Time” article by Guitar World. They also ranked Howe’s album “Wheelhouse” at number 6 in “The 20 best guitar albums of the decade.” Howe announced in 2012 that he would begin playing in a new band named Maragold.
His notable studio albums include Uncertain Terms (1994), Parallax (1995), Five (1996), Ascend (1999), Hyperacuity (2000), Collection: The Shrapnel Years (2006), Sound Proof (2008), and Wheelhouse (2017). He has also collaborated with other artists such as Richie Kotzen, Victor Wooten, and Dennis Chambers.
