Glenn Jones Information
Glenn Jones (September 27, 1962) is an American R&B/soul singer. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida. Jones began his career as a gospel vocalist, performing and recording with the Modulations, a gospel group headquartered in Florida. In 1980, Norman Connors gave the vocalist his first break in the R&B industry by including him on the single "Melancholy Fire" from the album Take It to the Limit. The single version of the song reached No. 20 on the Billboard R&B chart after its release.
In 1983, Jones earned a contract with RCA after touring with Connors. His top 30 R&B single "I Am Somebody" was released the same year as a part of a five-song EP titled Everybody Loves a Winner. In 1984, he released his debut LP, titled Finesse. In the R&B music charts, "Show Me" peaked at position #3. "Bring Back Your Love" was the follow-up song and peaked at No. 18 on the R&B charts.
In 1985, he entered the studio to lay the foundation for his third album for RCA, Take It from Me. The soundtrack to the film Youngblood included the album's namesake song. By the time Jones switched to Jive in 1987, his single "We've Only Just Begun" had climbed to No. 2 on the R&B list published by Billboard magazine. From the 1987 album Glenn Jones, this song was the first to be released as a single.
