Gin Blossoms Information
Gin Blossoms is an American rock band that originated from Tempe, Arizona, and was founded in 1987. The music of the group is defined as jungle pop and alternative rock. The current lineup of the band consists of Bill Leen – bass guitar; Jesse Valenzuela – lead vocals, rhythm guitar; Robin Wilson – lead vocals, acoustic guitar, percussion, harmonica; Scott "Scotty" Johnson – lead guitar, backing vocals; and Scott Hessel – drums, percussion. There is also a variety of touring members.
The band name is taken from a photo of W.C. Fields found in the infamous erroneous book Hollywood Babylon by Kenneth Anger. During the initial years, Gin Blossoms toured frequently, and due to this, the band members gathered popularity. The band recorded its first full-length album entitled Dusted independently, released in December 1989.
New Miserable Experience was the second album by Gin Blossoms that came out in February 1992. It turned out to be a breakthrough album, including a hit single named "Hey Jealousy." The track hit number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 and later went gold. Some of the other hit songs by the band include "Until I Fall Away," "Til I Hear It from You," "As Long as It Matters," "Learning the Hard Way," and "Long Time Gone."
Gin Blossoms released a few studio albums so far, including Congratulations I'm Sorry (1996), Major Lodge Victory (2006), No Chocolate Cake (2010), and Mixed Reality (2018).
