Ghost Note Information
Ghost-Note is an American percussion-based jazz, funk, and hip hop group currently based in Dallas, Texas. The current lineup of the band consists of Robert “Sput” Searight (drums and keyboards), Nate Werth (percussion), AJ Brown (bass), Dwayne “MonoNeon” Thomas (keyboards), Dominique Xavier Taplin (keyboards), Vaughn Henry (keyboards), Sylvester Onyejiaka (saxophone and flute), Jonathan Mones (saxophone and flute), Mike Jelani Brooks (saxophone and flute), Peter Knudsen (guitar), and Mike Clowes (guitar). The group has been playing actively since 2014.
Ghost-Note was formed by Searight and Werth, who wanted to form another unique band. The ensemble released its debut album right after its formation, entitled “Fortified.” The album was released in October 2015 on the Ropeadope label. The album incorporated influences from EDM, hip hop, and jazz music. It was a successful project by the band as it topped the iTunes Jazz chart in no time.
In April 2018, Ghost-Note released its second album named “Swagism” on the same label. The album also went number 1 on the iTunes Jazz chart and featured guitarist Raja Kassis, guitarist Brandon, and a few more notable artists. The group has played at many famous festivals, including Montreal Jazz Festival, the TD Ottawa JazzFest, the London Jazz Festival, and the Edmonton International Jazz Festival.
